Prayer for Iceland

God of love, the Creator of islands and seas, we thank You for Iceland, surrounded by exceptional nature and the people of this island in the north of the Atlantic. We thank you for their perseverance in the face of difficulties, their activeness and openness to the world. Support the Icelanders in their quest for harmony with nature, so that their island remains a place where Your wisdom is revealed in every landscape.

Wrap your care and support around all migrants who have found their place on this island. May they form an open community together, contributing to the growth of the common good.
Inspire the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Iceland, which plays an important spiritual role in the lives of more than 75% of the population. Open the hearts of Lutherans to new challenges, give them strength in proclaiming your Gospel.

We also come to you praying for peace in the world, for the healing of people suffering and affected by wars. Teach us how we can change the world and, as your disciples, bring the commandment of love to other people. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
