Solidarity in Action

The commitment of Polish Lutherans to supporting Ukraine.

For the past four years, the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland has been supporting people from Ukraine whose lives have been changed by the war and Russia’s attack on the country.

To summarise these multifaceted aid efforts, a leaflet entitled ‘Solidarity in Action: The Commitment of Polish Lutherans to supporting Ukraine 2022-2025’ has been published.

The booklet describes the initiatives carried out by Diaconia Poland, the Church and the LWF Foundation in Poland. It also highlights the cooperation between these organisations and the Lutheran World Federation, Diaconia Poland, Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe, local authorities and non-governmental organisations. The brochure also features selected projects carried out by parishes and presents the results of a survey on aid activities conducted within the Church. It is worth noting the diversity of these activities, ranging from large-scale projects to smaller-scale initiatives. It is impossible to compare them, as each parish and organisation has made its own unique contribution to helping refugees. This material bears witness not only to human kindness, but also to the strength of a community whose actions have a lasting impact.

The booklet in Polish and English is available online HERE.

The booklet was published with funding from the Lutheran World Federation.
