LWF projects in Poland for Ukraine
Visit of representatives of the LWF Department for Theology, Mission, and Justice.
Representatives of the LWF Department for Theology, Mission, and Justice visited Warsaw from 7-10 November. The delegation members were Rebekka Meissner (Program Executive for Member Church Projects) and Anna Srokowska-Bricout, both of whom coordinate the implementation of humanitarian projects for Ukrainian refugees in Poland and other Central and Eastern European countries. The delegation from Geneva was accompanied on their visit to Poland by the Presiding Bishop Jerzy Samiec and Project Coordinator Monika Buczek.
The busy schedule of the visit included some of the Church's initiatives for Ukraine, as it is impossible to cover in just a few days all the projects undertaken by parishes and the Church to support people fleeing war in Ukraine.
The guests began their visit with a meeting in Warsaw at the LWF Foundation office. On 8 November, they visited parishes in Jelenia Góra Cieplice, Karpacz and Świdnica. On the following day, 9 November, they visited the two parishes in Wrocław and the parish in Syców. The visit ended with a meeting on 10 November with representatives of the Holy Trinity parish in Warsaw, the staff of the Bishop's Office and the LWF Foundation in Poland.
Representatives of the LWF met with pastors, people engaged in projects and support for refugees and refugees themselves. Through these meetings, our guests learnt about the challenges and problems faced by parishes, but also about the achievements that have made it possible to provide a safe and stable daily life for people who have been deprived of all their previous lives. They also discussed planned projects that will help to support refugees and local communities even more strongly in their daily lives together.
