Tribute to rev. Piotr Wowry

At the age of 57 died Rev. Piotr Wowry.

At the age of 57 died Rev. Piotr Wowry, pastor of the Evangelical Augsburg Church Parish Ustroń, councilor of the Consistory and a member of the Council of Polish Diaconia.

Rev. Piotr Wowry was born in Cieszyn in 1963. After studying theology at the Christian Academy of Theology in Warsaw, he was ordained a priest in 1987. First he worked at the Evangelical-Augsburg Parish of St. Trinity in Warsaw. He spent the next thirty years in the congregation in Ustroń, where he was successively vicar, assistant parish priest of the congregation and, from 2007 on, leading parish priest. He was also a diocesan councilor of the diocese of Cieszyn (2007-2016), sat in the current term of office in the synod of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland, and since 2016 he has been a councilor of the Consistory and a member of the Council of Polish Diaconia.

Rev. Piotr Wowry was active in the diaconal field for many years. He was the initiator and president of the Protestant association "Maria-Marta". In addition, in cooperation with the Polish Diaconia, he contributed to the establishment of the Protestant Centre for Local Activities in the parish building in Ustroń. Both institutions help people with disabilities, the sick, the elderly and families in need. Rev. Wowry has left behind his wife Karina.
