Media training in Warsaw

Telling Stories That Matter

On January 17–18, a media training session organized by the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland took place in Warsaw. The event brought together individuals involved in church communication, with the aim of enhancing their skills in creating content for websites, social media, and project reports—especially those related to parish activities supporting refugees from Ukraine. The project is funded by the Lutheran World Federation.

The training was divided into three main thematic blocks. In the first part, Tomasz Szołtys and Jan Prosiński, professional cinematographers, introduced participants to the principles of creating engaging visual materials using smartphones. Special emphasis was placed on composition, lighting, and the practical use of reflectors.

The second part was led by Bożena Giemza, an experienced journalist and editor. She focused on the importance of communication and how to write texts that capture readers’ attention. In particular, she discussed the rules for crafting effective headlines that can boost audience engagement.

On the final day, Krzysztof Tylicki, who specializes in creating video content for social media, shared his experience in making reels. He presented free video editing tools and practical tips for recording high-quality footage. Together, participants created a summary reel of the training, which was published on social media.

The training was not only an opportunity to gain practical skills, but also a space for exchanging experiences and building community. The meeting reaffirmed the participants’ belief in the importance of professional and engaging communication within the Church and served as inspiration to further develop media activities in their parishes.

Participants can look forward to continued collaboration, an upcoming online meeting, and the presentation of materials from their respective projects.
