The hospital receives refugees and migrants who need hospitalisation after long wandering in the border forests.

The hospital is located about 20 km from the Polish-Belarusian border, close to the emergency zone that was declared in September. For several months, the number of cases of hospitalisation of refugees and migrants who cross the border in this area has been increasing. They are brought to hospital - sometimes in serious condition - by the Border Guard. They arrive there chilled, dehydrated and sick after days or even weeks of wandering in the border forests. There are people who have chronic illnesses or injuries, as well as those suffering from COVID-19. Medical workers try to provide them with proper care and treatment.

At the same time, the number of patients with COVID-19 is increasing in the hospital and, in addition, the hospital regularly receives scheduled patients, so the situation is extremely difficult. The staff is overworked, there is a shortage of beds, and new clothes are needed, for example, because the ones in which the refugees arrive at the hospital are no longer usable. The hospital authorities have asked for support from people all over Poland.

Among those who have responded to the appeal are Diakonia Polska and the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland. Their donations included personal protective equipment used during the pandemic (FFP2 masks, medical suits and nitrile gloves), as well as items such as trousers, T-shirts, underwear, socks, cutlery, energy bars and juices.

We thank the parishes and individuals who donated to this cause.
